Build Flash Online

Ever thought of a flash compiler as a service? Online? The japanese wonderfl service at kayac.com has done it. As we already have some javascript online IDE‘s how long will it take to have online flash IDE’s? Google just told me that we already have a C# online IDE at compilr.com. As we are building skynet and all will google add an IDE to its google docs stack? For other languages ther is the codepad. The long discontinued YouOS also had javascipt a IDE.

Long story short – Here is an application which demonstrates the following features all written in C#:

  1. PHP Backend
  2. JavaScript (WPF)
  3. ActionScript (WPF)
  4. Java Applet

Update: Moved the example to sourceforge and removed the querystring switch.

FlashConsoleWorm – study latency

Low latency is very important for fast paced games like FlashConsoleWorm. This game was now posted on newgrounds. Browser based games cannot therefor expect a real time syncing and some prediction algorithms must be implemented to ease the effect of lag.

Working on a raycaster

First things first. I got a brand new dell latitude xt tablet. They talk about multitouch, but believe me, its not there yet. Atleast not in a sense of a real multi-touch. Maybe with the next update from dell…

In the meanwhile I have been working on a wolf look a like and learning about raycasting. Someday there will be a release where one can play multiplayer flash wolf on a touchscreen:)

FlashMinesweeper:MP

Guess what, one of my games has made it to IndieGames.com!

FlashMinesweeper:MP is a multiplayer version of the well-known puzzle game, complete with chat features and penalty-based restrictions to encourage teamwork among players.

A tile is revealed by left-clicking, and marked as unsafe by holding down either the left control, alternate or shift key before pressing the left mouse button. New players cannot join a game in progress when more than half of its field has already been solved.

FlashTowerDefense1 v2.1

A month has passed and $0.20 money has been made. I published this project to try this new trend to monetize your flash game I’ve read about on Emanuel’s blog. My idea is simple – use c# (view source) for coding, translate the project to a actionscript equivalent via jsc and draw yourself some graphics for the game. So far so good. I am now a member of GameBalance, MochiAds and Newsground where you can even visit my profile.

FlashTowerDefense1

You can see the stats for MochiAds and Newsground below:

What do you think I should add as a next feature? I’ve already read some of the suggestions and am considering adding them.

  • enemies come as waves
  • powerups
  • building multiple cannons
  • more doodads like trees and bushes
