[…] As you remove unnecessary constraints and assumptions, including fears, your solutions become more creative! – Scott
  • Combination – Find your inventory of ideas to combine and reuse
  • Inhibition – Make a list of constraints and find a way to remove them
  • Environment – Know where you get in your flow the best.
  • Persistence – Working hard or working smart? Do both!
  1. Capture your ideas by recording them in your physical journal! This is your idea inventory.
  2. Take a shower. Go for a run. Enable your subconscious mind to talk to you.
  3. Invert the problem and improve on that. The goal of being bad is liberating.
  4. Get fuel. Find a partner. Find a rival!
  5. Sketch to find a way to fail.
  6. If stuck, find a new way to represent the problem, using different modes of communication – visually, verbally, audibly, physically.
  7. Make a visual model.
  8. The process of explaining it helps you to understand the problem.

  1. Creativity –  Implementation can be outsourced. Brilliant design can not.
  2. Honesty – Keep your next marketing message honest
  3. Test and tweak – Create and use a feedback loop to keep improving
  4. Just do it – Convert book smarts to street smarts. If you have been waiting for a sign – this is it!
  5. Do not sell out your dream – Never give up on your dreams. To be happy you need to invest in your own ideas!
  6. Ask for sale. Listen to their needs to solve their problems.
