World’s Biggest PAC-MAN

Only a few years ago I had this idea to have a JSC branded PAC MAN multiplayer game.

Today, I found this via RLammle:

For my amusement I found it rather remarkable to be able to log in with facebook connect and use my tablet to ink a new maze for others to play later.

It would be awesome if a future version of JSC would include a C# project template to create something like this.

What if it would be applied to other simple games? What if actual applications could be extended by crowd sourcing?

Sense of accomplishment

This is exactly what I need to do next – a trivial game with a trivial task just to trigger the sense of accomplishment of the players.

Are you a user or player?

You can differentiate points to collectible points and deemable points. There is realtime feedback and feedback gathered over time both of which will thrive the player to a better level of mastery.

Achron – timetravel is coming to rts

Q. Dude, paradoxes?! You know, grandfather paradox, units fighting side by side?
A. Paradoxes can exist, but since the window of time is limited (e.g., an 8 minute window) all events eventually fall off. A paradox will oscillate between its different states until one of the states reaches the edge of the time window, leaving the players locked into one of the two states. Example: in the case of the grandfather paradox (where you use a factory to build a tank, have the tank time travel to before it was built, and then use it to destroy the factory) you will play with the paradox until it ‘falls off’ the time window, at which point there is a 50/50 chance of either the tank lives and the factory is destroyed (because the tank destroyed the factory), or the factory remains and the tank goes back in time and is lost. All paradoxes are nicely resolved with time.

This will be rather interesting!

If this concept proves itself, it could be implemented on every game. Portal, cnc and wolf3d comes to my mind 🙂 And speaking of time travel – do not forget to watch Lost .

Understanding Games

This is awesome! 🙂

Understanding Games is series of four games explaining the basic concepts of video games. The tutorial-style episodes deal with rules, motivation, learning and identification in video games. The player is guided through each episode by the narrators Bob and Bub, who explain core concepts of games to the player. The player can experience these concepts directly while playing the integrated games.

Distributed Agents

The world is changing around us. Sooner or later the artifactial intelligence will rise.  Until that we can enjoy creating agents, that based on their sensors and current beliefs of the environment perform rule based decision making. I think this will be important for distributed multiplayer games like flash games powered by Nonoba.

Read more about it over here at Rock Paper Shotgun blog and check out the article over here.

When playing an rts there is no point me trying to guess the actions of a random number generator.

But another person? They haven’t seen i have unit x which means i’ve teched up to building y which means i’m weak against z. But like i said, they don’t know so if i hold back unit x and let them capture that hill but offer as much low tech resistance as i can they will think the distribution of my forces is consistent… They have unit p? Perfect\fuck!

FlashTowerDefense1 v2.1

A month has passed and $0.20 money has been made. I published this project to try this new trend to monetize your flash game I’ve read about on Emanuel’s blog. My idea is simple – use c# (view source) for coding, translate the project to a actionscript equivalent via jsc and draw yourself some graphics for the game. So far so good. I am now a member of GameBalance, MochiAds and Newsground where you can even visit my profile.

What do you think I should add as a next feature? I’ve already read some of the suggestions and am considering adding them.

  • enemies come as waves
  • powerups
  • building multiple cannons
  • more doodads like trees and bushes
